Dial Testing Reveals How Voters Feel About Leading Candidates in Oklahoma Governor’s Race
A number of closely contested governors races across the US will be decided next week. One such race is in Oklahoma where there is no incumbent as current Governor Mary Fallin is unable to seek re-election due to term limits. As a key component of its political coverage of the Oklahoma Governors race, local CBS-affiliate News 9 is using dial testing to give its viewers a unique perspective on how registered voters in the state responded to the views and messages of the two leading candidates, Republican candidate Kevin Stitt and Democratic candidate Drew Edmondson.
As one of the most effective methods of gathering voters’ real-time, in-the-moment reactions and opinions, dial testing focus groups, similar to this one, are being conducted across the country in the lead up to the mid-term elections. News media organizations, political campaigns as well as policy groups and other organizations use dial testing to understand which messages resonate with voters and which do not.
Check out the video and links below to see the dial testing results from the Governor debate and additional coverage and reporting from the focus group.
