As it has for years, dial testing was again front-and-center during coverage of a key election event, aiding in the reporting and analysis of how the candidates’ responses to key campaign issues resonated with voters. This time it was the Texas Governor’s debate between incumbent Governor Greg Abbott and Democratic challenger Beto O’Rourke.
The debate, the only one that’s scheduled to be held before November’s election, was aired on fourteen NexStar affiliate stations across the state of Texas. The coverage featured real-time dial testing results from a group representing Democratic, Republican and Independent Texas voters. Here are some highlights:
